Support Engineer - Robotics & Sensing
At Bota Systems, we build force/torque sensors and the software that lets robots sense and learn from touch. Our customers range from research labs to industrial integrators, and they rely on us when something doesn’t work as expected. We’re looking for a Support Engineer who can get to the bottom of technical problems and leave customers more capable than before.
Position: Support Engineer - Robotics & Sensing
Location: Zurich, Switzerland
Start Date: As soon as possible
What you’ll do:
- Own incoming support tickets end to end: triage, reproduce, diagnose, and resolve issues across sensors, communication interfaces, drivers, and software tools
- Help customers integrate our sensors with their robots and software stacks (e.g. ROS 2, Python/C++ APIs, industrial fieldbuses)
- Escalate well-documented bugs and feature requests to engineering, and follow them through to resolution
- Turn recurring questions into documentation, FAQs, and example code so customers can help themselves
- Join customer calls for setup, debugging, and onboarding, and feed what you learn back into the product
What you bring:
- A degree in Robotics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechatronics, or a related field, ideally 1–3 years of experience in technical support, field application engineering, or customer-facing engineering
- Solid hands-on skills with Linux, Python, and ideally C++, and comfort debugging hardware-software systems
- The ability to explain technical issues clearly, in writing and on calls, to both researchers and industrial engineers
- A structured way of working: you keep tickets organized, document what you find, and close the loop
- Fluent English; German is a plus
Nice to have:
- Experience with ROS 2, PLC programming, EtherCAT or other industrial communication protocols, and robot arms from major manufacturers
- Familiarity with force control or sensor integration
- Experience with ticketing and documentation tools
What we offer:
- A key role between our customers and engineering team, with direct influence on product quality
- Hands-on work with state-of-the-art sensors, robots, and teleoperation setups
- A small, highly technical team in Zurich
Apply with your CV and a short note describing a tricky technical problem you helped someone solve.
