Language requirements
- Development and conduct of own PhD project in the field of comparative political institutions, broadly defined. Applicants should have a focus on parliaments, parties, legislative behavior, representation, European politics, or European integration.
- Participation in the Department's doctoral program, which offers advanced methodological and substantive training as well as professional development.
- To teach own courses and/or co-teach with Prof. Slapin or other members of the IPZ
- To contribute to intellectual life at the IPZ and the Chair of Comparative Political Institutions and European Politics
- Excellent MA degree in political science or closely related discipline
- Substantive interest in democratic political institutions, democratic governance, representation, parties, parliaments, legislative behavior, European integration or other substantive and methodological topics that fit with the research conducted at the chair.
- Excellent quantitative methods background and an interest in further developing methodological skills. Specific areas of interest/expertise could include (but are not limited to) econometrics, causal inference, survey methods and design, computational social and data science (including quantitative text analysis), and experimental methods.
- Motivation to pursue an academic career
- Ability to work both independently and in a team

- Preference for an ability to speak and teach in German, but not required
