Help keep Switzerland's lights on

You ensure that the capacity of Switzerland’s high-voltage grid is used optimally, both within Switzerland and as part of the interconnected European grid. As a driving force behind capacity and congestion management, you develop solutions that intelligently connect the market and the grid while balancing technical and economic requirements. Your key responsibilities include:

  • Leadership and development of the Capacity & Congestion Management team while ensuring the sustainable development of the organisation, processes and capabilities
  • Anticipation of regulatory, market and operational changes and derivation of future-ready solutions for market, operational and cross-border planning
  • Ensuring efficient and robust processes through an end-to-end understanding of capacity and congestion management across the entire organisation, continuous performance monitoring, and ongoing improvement
  • Active contribution to national and European collaboration and representation of Swissgrid’s interests in dealings with authorities, transmission system operators and market partners
  • Effective leadership of people and resources through employee development, the creation of a culture based on trust and performance, and the efficient management of budgets, performance and risks.

This is how you make a difference

You combine strong analytical and conceptual skills with a confident manner, negotiation skills and an operational and strategic mindset. You communicate complex matters clearly, proactively initiate change and create a motivating working environment. You also bring the following qualifications and experience:

  • Master’s degree in electrical engineering, economics or a natural science discipline, ideally complemented by further education in economics
  • Six to ten years of relevant professional experience, particularly in electricity trading, power plant dispatch or grid operations
  • In-depth knowledge of national and international energy markets as well as the relevant regulatory and legal frameworks
  • Advanced knowledge of congestion and balancing group management as well as operational planning, together with a very good understanding of the interaction between market and grid operations
  • Experience leading an organisational unit or completed further training in people management
  • Experience negotiating with international partners and authorities, along with strong conflict resolution and facilitation skills
  • Business-fluent German and English, as well as advanced French language skills

What we offer

We offer varied and exciting responsibilities in a company that is unique in Switzerland, together with a modern working environment in the immediate vicinity of Aarau railway station. You will also benefit from:

  • Flexible working arrangements based on a 42-hour week, including opportunities to work from home
