Director of Research

At the Schulthess Clinic, research is at the heart of how we continuously improve patient care and outcomes. As Director of Research, you will bring together clinicians, researchers, the Schulthess Foundation and external partners around a shared ambition: to shape the future of orthopaedics. Working at the interface between clinical departments and research groups, you will help translate scientific excellence into better patient care, innovation and measurable impact.

• Shape and coordinate the research strategy of the Schulthess Clinic and translate our strategic priorities into a shared research agenda
• Bring together clinical departments and research groups and enable ambitious multidisciplinary research programmes
• Identify and prioritise scientific, clinical and technological opportunities with the potential to transform musculoskeletal care
• Develop shared capabilities in outcomes research, data science and artificial intelligence
• Build strategic partnerships with leading academic institutions, healthcare organisations, foundations and industry
• Promote competitive research funding and help attract third-party funding
• Strengthen the international visibility and impact of our research
• Monitor research performance and scientific impact and provide strategic reporting to our governing bodies

• A collaborative leader, connector and enabler who brings people together and enables others to succeed
• Scientific credibility and a strong understanding of the interface between clinical care and research
• Strategic vision and the ability to translate it into a focused research agenda
• Experience in leading multidisciplinary research programs and securing competitive research funding
• A strong international network and the ability to build strategic collaborations
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• The ability to bridge clinical, scientific and institutional perspectives and create institutional impact
• Good command of German, both written and spoken, is desirable.
